Grand vainqueur la nuit dernière lors de la 65è cérémonie des Grammy Awards, le chef montréalais Yannick Nézet-Séguin, actuel directeur musical du Metropolitan Opera de New York : il a remporté 2 grammy; le premier, pour sa direction d’opéra (meilleur enregistrement d’un opéra), au Met justement (avec la création de « Fire Shut Up In My Bones » de Terence Blanchard : commande de l’institution new yorkaise et donc confirmation de la réussite de la programmation artistique de son directeur, Peter Gelb) ; le second, pour sa réalisation d’un récital avec la diva assoluta Renée Fleming où il joue le piano (meilleur album solo vocal pour Voice of Nature : The Anthropocene). Yannick Nézet-Séguin, récemment couronné par un CLIC de CLASSIQUENEWS pour un remarquable album Franck, Szymanowski, Chausson avec la violoniste Lisa Batiashvili (Secret Love letters, DG), a été également reconduit comme directeur musical de l’Orchestre Symphonique de Philadelphie (avec lequel il avait remporté son premier grammy, en 2021 pour la meilleure prestation orchestrale). Le maestro se félicite que la musique classique lyrique et orchestrale se trouve ainsi exposée au sein d’une célébration aussi prestigieuse que l’Académie des Grammy à Los Angeles, où dominent les monstres de la Variété International, pop, dance & électro, contemporary & instrumental music, rock, alternative, R&B, rap, country, new age, ambient, jazz, gospel, latin, american roots, reggae, cmedy, musicla theater, visual media, … tels que ABBA (pour « Don’t Shut Me down » extrait de l’album « Voyage »), Adele (« Esay on me », album « 30 »), Beyoncé (« Renaissance »), Kendrick Lamar, Adele et Brandi Carlile, les grands gagnants de cette édition 2023.
